Health and Nutrition

Making healthy and nutritious food choices is increasingly important these days and our members undertake to meet the highest standards of sustainability and food safety to supply a global market with the best quality and freshest Chilean salmon possible, which is well known for its delicious taste, rich color and soft texture.

Salmon is low in calories, but rich in Omega-3 fatty acids (DHA and EPA), Omega-6, and proteins and minerals. It also contains high concentrations of vitamins A, B6-B3, D and K, and essential trace minerals such as selenium, zinc, potassium, iodine and phosphorus.

Scientific research shows that eating salmon:

  • improves maternal health during pregnancy and lactation
  • boosts the body’s immune system
  • helps to control blood pressure and boosts metabolism
  • lowers levels of triglycerides and cholesterol in the blood
  • prevents thrombosis and reduces cardiovascular risks
  • improves cognitive development and visual development in children
  • reduces the risk of neurological diseases, such as Parkinson's and Alzheimer's, in the elderly
  • improves lung function and reduces asthma
  • helps reduce inflammation in diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, bowel inflammation and skin conditions (eczema and psoriasis)
  • slows growth rates of cancer cells and helps prevent cancer of the breast, prostate and colon
  • helps in the prevention and treatment of certain psychological disorders, such as depression
